Episode 155 features a fantastic interview with Rowan knitwear designer Georgia Farrell in which she takes us through her latest collection: Abstract Vol. 2. Georgia’s designs have a fresh, modern feel—she plays with bold colour contrasts, geometric shapes, and rich textures to reflect the look and feel of contemporary architecture. We also have a mini vendor interview with Astrid from Bodolina – a small Bavarian business specialized in high-quality knitting needle cases made from felted wool. And of course, we’ll also share updates on our own knitting projects which include Madeleine wedding veil and a new summer top!
Georgia Farrell

After sharing her first Abstract collection with us back in Ep. 123, Georgia has joined us once more to show us her newest collection, Abstract Vol. 2. Her designs are both sleek and intricate, combining clean, simple cuts with bold colour contrasts and striking geometric details. Georgia’s work is inspired by the lines, shapes, and patterns found in modernist architecture. And her latest collection, Abstract Vol.2, is a fantastic example of this.

Here, Georgia shows how the same set of abstract shapes can create either a feeling of chaos or balance in a design, depending on how they are arranged in relation to each other.

Under Construction
Madeleine's Wedding Veil
Andrea and I have been planning my wedding outfit! I’m very much into old fashioned things and my wedding dress is very simple and simultaneously reminds me of a 1930s ballgown and an Elf costume out of Lord of the Rings. The fabric is drapy and slightly shiny in a colour that is not white. And the cut is simple and elegant.

One of the highlights is that the dress has a very low back. And so, to accentuate it, I will wear my hair in a low bun with a gorgeous hair vine which I purchased off of Etsy. And an even bigger highlight is the lace wedding veil that Mum has been knitting for me. It is a variation of the 12th of Never Wedding Shawl designed by A Passion For Lace.

Andrea originally decreased too quickly, which made the top of the veil too narrow and too short. So, she kindly went to the great effort of undoing part of her lace knitting and re-knitting it, this time decreasing every 6 rows instead of every 2. Now, it has the perfect length! She will probably add a few more rows of stocking stitch before casting off.
Olive Summer Top
We’ve been enjoying lovely warm weather and I’m feeling the urge to knit some more summer tops. I’ve had five balls of Knitting for Olive Merino in the colourway Dusty Rose left over from when I knitted the Jenny Jacket by Petite Knit for my best friend Antonia. And I’ve decided to knit the Olive Top.

Our UK trip
At the time, John Arbon Textiles hosted their annual Open Mill Weekend. Visitors could sign up for a tour of the mill, and they also hosted a small marketplace with vendors, workshops, and talks in the local Town Hall. Of course, we took this opportunity to do some vendor interviews!
What we were wearing
Andrea is wearing her Lola top by Claudia Quintanilla in the interview. Madeleine is wearing her Fern sweater during the vendor interview.
